COMMUNITY YOUTH CENTER
MusicNYC invites all middle and high-school music students with at least 2 years experience on their instrument to join us this summer for our Virtual Band Camp, where students will learn songs and make a Virtual Band video. Daily activity will include 1-on-1 and group instruction, guided listening, and goal-oriented practice sessions. Once a week, the whole camp will be invited together for presentations and masterclasses with our special guests. Two private lessons will be provided with our world-class faculty as well as studio classes.
We have two very special guests joining us: DD Jackson is an Emmy-award-winning composer for film and TV and works as a pianist and arranger with Questlove. As a jazz pianist he works frequently with saxophone heavy-hitter David Murray as well as in his own ensembles.
Raymond James Mason is a master trombonist, having toured/recorded with Mark Ronson, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Antibalas, Lady Antebellum, and many more. He can be heard on the pop super-hit “Uptown Funk” and is a frequent call for major label studios. He studied at NYU with jazz great Elliot Mason and is active on the New York scene.
